Rhett and I out on the town

I was supposed to pick up my meds on Thursday, but between being sick and having my van shot at, I did not get around to going to the pharmacy. Judy needed me to come to her house, so I got dressed and drove the van over. Walking there this morning about killed me ;-p

Since I had to go out, I figured I’d ask Rhett to come. He loves going to Sam’s Club for all the goodies. We live 1.86 miles away. It was an excellent sampling day. We had asparagus with lemon sauce, an artichoke-spinach stuffed shrimp, fruit yogurt, a breakfast hot pocket, meaty pizza,  a hot wing,  a lime tequila chicken tender,  some Goldfish  crackers, and a cream cheese croissant. Rhett also tried a 3 calorie energy drink. I got Judy her mozarella balls and I splurged $1.68 on two big bottles of hydrogen peroxide.  I gave away my last bottle and feel naked without some on hand.

After all the Sam’s Club treats, we were going to get some ice cream there, but the line was humongous.  I did a u-turn in the electric scooter and we got the heck out of there. I drove to the nearby McDonalds for one dollar sundaes and a vanilla cone for Zeke.

With the RV I had to park it, open the only door, get out, pull the steps out and take Rhett to his door. With the van, I park so he can follow the sidewalk or my voice to his doorstep while I stay in the van. MUCH easier on my wimpy body! Rhett is getting better each time at finding his own apartment :-) That was the big excitement of the day until a woman from church called about the bulletin. I had been remiss at working on it. Bad Wendy!

This week the bulletin’s theme is vegetable gardening since we can now use plots behind the church. The sacrament bread smells sooooo good, but I am behaving and not eating it :-)

Thank goodness we all have each other!

I was thinking about how all of us are so dependent on each other. I learn how to act by singling out people I admire or certain traits I admire in anyone. I watch them, learn from them and try to emulate them. Hopefully in my old age I am turning into a person I would have liked and admired as a kid.

Each of us have strengths and weaknesses. Rhett and I often go shopping together. He can’t drive or find the store without me. I have a hard time lifting stuff into my cart. I guide his hands by talking and moving them so he can put what either of us need in the cart.

Judy is very kind and compassionate. She knows how to soothe me. She’s good at saying the right thing or touching me in a reassuring way. I make food for her, she makes food for me and we both watch out for Rhett. Last week we all went out to eat together and we had a WONDERFUL time. Each of us is wimpy in one way or the other, but we use our strengths to help each other out.

This is true on all sorts of levels with everyone we come in contact with.

The young men of my ward

At our ward conference,  the young men stood up. What a bunch of handsome and good guys! I wish I could remember all of their names. The ones I run into the most are Caleb and Adam who are Rhett’s sons and their best friends Drake, Justin, Will and Bradley.  I am very, very, very impressed by these young men and Gloria, the mom of Justin. It seems that they often practically live at her house :-)

Today they were going to the Bishop’s Storehouse and they got my order for me. There was no way I had enough money to drive there and back or enough energy to do so. They got my food and brought it in my house. Mmmmmm…..cottage cheese…..

Thank you guys!!!!!
