Sigh….it’s always tough being the poorest person I know, but today is harder than usual. Yesterday my neighbor got her check and went out and got a new-to-her car. A lot of the ads offer to boost your buying power if you spend your money at their place. As usual, I’m economically left behind.
People on SSI are not eligible for economic stimulus….and we probably NEED it more than most anybody. I guarantee we would rush out and spend it! In a baffling move, last year was the smallest cost of living increase. And anyway, whenever there’s in increase in SSI benefits, that same amount is taken out of the food stamps we get.
I continue to scrape by on $573/month and get no relief. Gas and food and EVERYTHING keeps going up in price and my spending power is in the pits. Sigh…
Enough folks told me to try to make money online, so when I am doing OK, I add items to my new blog…
Get the Goods! Supplies for Life….
Just Good Stuff That Wendy Likes. Wendy Usually Wanders, and has found some good stuff for you to buy. Finally a source for self-reliance, food storage, homesteading, camping, cooking and other GOOD STUFF with the Wendy Usually Wanders seal of approval.
I made a dollar and thirty three cents this month. I truly am grateful to whoever it was who bought things from Amazon after clicking on my site
It’s probably just as well I don’t have money. I’d go blow it on food
Oh…and just so you know…even if you plan on buying something at Amazon that I have not spotlighted on my blog, just by starting there, I get a teeny, tiny commission. I got 2.2% on whatever that person bought this month. Thanks!

Wendy, check again about not getting the economic stimulus. My neighbor that is 58 and in a wheelchair gets the same amount of SSI as you and she is getting it. You file a 1040 and write economic stimulas across the top. She doesn’t get food stamps but don’t think that would make a difference as she gets no other income besides the SSI.
I’ve been wondering what a person would make from one of those sites. Now I have a good idea. I went and looked; you do a good job with it. Unfortunately, we’re in a no-income-at-all situation right now, so I can’t buy anything.
At this moment, I envy you the steadiness of your income, but really I know better. My own experience and those of my relatives tells my that you are not exaggerating in the least. I wish you, and all of us, well.
go to irs.gov open top part/rebate questions. just about past 1/2 way they have something on SSI Disability. I think you qualify you just have to file taxes. you wouldn’t owe anything and you wouldn’t get anything except the stimulus. it says income of 3000. you have that
Did you try the google web page? You make money on it just by people going to your site. When Google approves it, they place ads on the site and every time your site is hit you get paid. Just think if you made a dollar a hit. Gee, that would be quite a bit of money.
Heather has the Google ads on her blog. They clutter up the place and she has made a very small amount.
Calvin…if there’s any chance either of you two qualify for disability, you should apply. The regular SSI payment is $637/month. I was overpaid for three months when switching between VT and FL…and their very different interpretations of the guidelines…so I owed $1800. Someday it might be paid back
Here’s a quote from the IRS….
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment.

Wendy, you are eligible for $300. All you have to do is file a tax return, which you can do easily and quickly for FREE on turbotax.com. Just click on the “free edition”. Once inside, they even have a setup for folks who do not normally file and are just filing to get the stimulus check. It’s only a few questions, takes about 5 minutes. I just helped my mom do this a couple of weeks ago.
Wendy, thank you for your thoughtful reply. Loretta has applied and has a real chance of getting it–she’s been disable before and has since settled a Workers’ Comp claim. We don’t know if they’ll count my income, but that’s not an issue right now since I have no income.
See….lots of people think us poor and disabled folks are eligible, but we are not. If you get SSI and have no EARNED income, you get no economic stimulus. Folks on SSDI disability do get the money.
with the website you linked to i believe still you can get it. says income CAN be from SSI or a combination of other things. doesn’t hurt to check it out/try. i am sure there is some agency there that helps low income with taxes. now that it is past April 15th you would have to wait awhile but to know you have something coming and approx. when would be a nice thing
People can file until October 15th. Are you confusing SSDI and SSI? More than a dozen IRS pages have this quote, which I cut and pasted from their site…
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) does not count as qualifying income for the stimulus payment.
Could you give me more details about buying from Amazon through your site? I don’t buy that much, but I would be happy to go to your site first, then click thru to them, if I can figure out how. Is there a link button somewhere?
A surprising number of people are making money with blogs – not a lot, but every bit helps. I hope yours will become more prosperous for you.
Well…I was surprised at the $1.33 I made, because the people who bought stuff started out looking at things I had recommended, then bought other goods. I didn’t know Amazon worked that way
On this blog, on the right hand side down by the bottom are the latest items I have added to the product blog. If you click on one of those, it takes you to Amazon. From what I gather reading, anything bought while at Amazon once you keep clicking around their site, gives me a small percentage. It does not cost the buyer any more, just gives me some for funneling a customer their way.
Man, living on 573/month, that must be tough, I feel for you. I am trying to find out if I need to pay taxes this year on the rebate check we received last year. I did not find it here, but I found another site that talks about it, so I thought I could share it here for others. This site http://www.maxi-pedia.com/how+to+tax+economic+stimulus+rebate+check that I have in my other window which says no. The article behind the link says that no need to tax it, that the rebate which we received last year was only an advance of a tax credit that we calculate on this years tax return.
I’m rich now! The cost of living went up and I am paying back the feds less per month, plus NYS pays a higher monthly amount for disabled residents. They add some to the fed’s payment. Now I get $741 which feels like a HUGE improvement in my standard of living. It’s still tough…but better than it was.
