The older I get, the more I understand that some symbols have true meaning….like the ghost above.
Back when we were all spirit children of God, we were in a council in heaven. Jesus and Lucifer presented their plans for how they would help God bring us through mortality and back to God after our lives here. Jesus had a plan that was of his father. We would have free will, otherwise known as agency. We were free to make choices in life. If we kept our minds and hearts on God and did the best we could, Jesus would die for our sins so that they could be forgiven. He would atone for our mistakes if we repented.
Lucifer wanted to take away our free will and make us all follow the right path so we would all make it back to God. He also wanted all the honor and glory for that.
The spirits in heaven made their choices. Most chose Jesus. About a third chose Lucifer. Lucifer and his followers were cast out of heaven, never to get a body. Those of us who made the choice to follow Jesus get a chance to receive bodies and do our best to lead good, decent lives glorifying God.
Lucifer and his followers can only influence us, they cannot MAKE us follow them. It’s up to us. The unembodied spirits can get into people through several means. A couple I remember are when we are under anesthesia or when drunk. At any time we, or people who call on the power and authority of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit can tell those spirits to take a hike and get lost.
All my life I knew this intuitively and would call upon that power when needed. Last night I needed it! I was sitting in my living room in the dark when I saw an apparition zoom by and go out the window…sort of like an elongated paisley…much like the ghost depicted above. Then there were noises and voices and other scary things. This went on for about 3 hours. Finally I said a prayer that cast those spirits out. The second I said AMEN, it was all quiet. They were gone.
I thanked God profusely for his love and light and prayed that what had been filled by evil would now be filled with light and goodness and much love. It was one heck of a freaky experience!
I’m going to spend some time now looking up the season. There must be a reason why Halloween, All Saints Day and Día De Los Muertos are all clumped together…time to do some research…
