Very wet…now cold Saturday

seeder

I woke up at 5:30 AM to pouring rain. Took my meds and perused the net…then the router quit working. Seems like it always does on long weekends! Went back to bed and did not get up until after 10 AM. Heather got up then, too. The rain goes from pouring to misty to constant. We saw sun maybe 2 or 3 times for a few minutes each all day.

We decided to be brave and try garage sales. I got a bunch of goodies….many free or for 10 or 25 cents :-) One place we stopped out front to see what was there. Even in the rain I could see it!!!!!! A rolling seeder! That was enough to make me turn in the driveway. I bought it for $20. Had one in Vermont and sold it with the farm. I did not realize just how much easier it made my life until I didn’t have one. Now I am VERY happy :-)

Ugh…it would not stop raining and then the wind started whipping things around. We weren’t even dry in the van. Water snuck in through the weatherstripping and vents. That did it! We came home and pigged out on leftovers for lunch. Had strawberries and blueberries with yogurt for breakfast. Mmmmmmm…..

  1. What a great find!! I envy your skill at finding great bargains at yard and garage sales and thrift stores. So satisfying to make a find of something so useful at an incredible price.

Can’t wait to see what you and Heather conjure up for dinner. I’m going to roast veggies on the bbq, make make up some veggie tacos. I’m also going to make up some “New York Goodwiches” a la Harvey and Marilyn Diamond in their Fit for Life books. If I make up some extra to keep in the fridge, maybe I wont’ be so tempted to partake of the banana bread pudding I am going to make to use up some overripe bananas and leftover bread.

    Happy 4th!

    • There is a community grill here to use. I need to get off my butt and try it out. Roast vegies sound good :-) Today was fast Sunday, so no breakfast for me. Heather had oatmeal while I was gone. Brownies for snack. The last two evenings we have had leftovers. Leftovers tasted even better than the first time around :-)

I got a whole garbage bag of Tupperware for less than $2…and it all looked new. Got a rattan mirror and tray for free, a tube cake pan free, a complete wok set $3. I know there were a few other small things, but darned if I can remember!

  2. Came on your site today, and was going to check out Heather’s hiking journal, but the link to it is now gone….wondered where it went to?

  3. Will Heather be continuing to blog at all now that she is done hiking?

    • No idea. She likes to be more private in her old age. She is not all that much into being online as she used to be. While we have been here in my apartment she has been reading dozens of books and magazines. She is busy planning her Texas garden…..
