I make plans so the universe can laugh

Nothing to do with my health has ever been predictable…so why start now?

This morning I went to my new doc’s office and got a Kenalog injection. It’s the same sort of stuff as solumedrol and prednisone. I knew it had started to kick in when I got HUNGRY! Hmmmm…prednisone ballooned me to almost 500 pounds…and here I am on the stuff again. I was happier than I thought I’d be yesterday when I discovered I had “only” gained 4 pounds since leaving the Adirondacks. It could have been worse.

The doc let me go home and read up on Kenalog before agreeing to a shot. I needed it because I am wicked bad allergic to Arizona. The nurse told me it’s because cotton is being planted right now. I suppose that means a combo of pesticides/herbicides/fertilizer and dust in the air. In Texas it was also pollen. I’m already on my 2nd big roll of TP to blow my nose on today. I look like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Turns out I need to learn to chill out. I’m way too much on edge! The doc assigned to me was nowheres near as good as the one I ended up with. And…the neuro I was supposed to see in Tucson is nowhere near as awesome as the one I’m going to see near Phoenix :-) This guy has won LOTS of awards and has pages and pages of positive reviews. He lists myasthenia gravis as something he knows about. Here’s hoping I will be as thrilled with him as the folks who love him!

The doc’s office is still working on getting my insurance to pay for Mestinon. They have done hours of work on my behalf since yesterday. What great folks!!!! :-)

I spent the afternoon going visting teaching. Both women we visited had salt lamps. Both said how much better they and others feel when around them. I’d love a dump truck sized hunk-o-salt to put in this building to alleviate all the second hand smoke!

I was really bad allergic before going in the first home and soon felt nuch better. They had a HUGE salt lamp in the living room. The second home had a smaller chunk and the door open. I was sort of OK. When we stood around outside, I was back to having my nose dripping like a faucet. I’m thinking a lump of salt is in my future! :-)

It’s 150 miles each way to the neurologist. He had better be good! So far I have found no way to be reimbursed for mileage. I’m thinking we should plan on boondock camping for a few days while seeing more desert.

Go read the blog where I got this picture!!!! :-)

Ha ha, that was a funny blog – he had me going for a bit!

I always see the salt lamps at the fair. I never asked what they were for. Sounds interesting.
